Personal Data Collected
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using their services. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture, if uploaded through Gravatar, is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Contact forms
When you submit a request for membership or use the ‘Contact us’ web form, information such as your name, email address, mailing address, and telephone number will be collected and securely stored within our ActiveCampaign database. This information is maintained for the duration of the subscribers’ membership to keep record of the members within The African Diaspora Group. Member information is shared only with the individuals within The African Diaspora Group, or partner organizations who offer services or investment vehicles to our members.
When submitting a request for membership, you will receive a confirmation via email, and thereafter will receive updates from our organization regarding future events or fundraising opportunities. You may opt-out of any such communication at any time by clicking the ‘Unsubscribe’ link at the bottom of the email.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our website, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you have an account, and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Analytics
We use a tool called “Google Analytics” to collect information about use of this site. Google Analytics collects information such as how often users visit this site, what pages they visit when they do so, and what other sites they used prior to coming to this site. We use the information we get from Google Analytics only to improve this site. Google Analytics collects only the IP address assigned to you on the date you visit this site, rather than your name or other identifying information. We do not combine the information collected through the use of Google Analytics with personally identifiable information. Although Google Analytics plants a permanent cookie on your web browser to identify you as a unique user the next time you visit this site, the cookie cannot be used by anyone but Google. Google’s ability to use and share information collected by Google Analytics about your visits to this site is restricted by the Google Analytics Terms of Use (as amended for government websites) and the Google Privacy Policy. You can prevent Google Analytics from recognizing you on return visits to this site by disabling cookies on your browser.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time.
Where we send your data
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. If placing an order for merchandise through our Store, mailing and billing information, along with your order details, will be sent through the WooCommerce platform to our print on demand provider to process and fulfill your order.
Monthly Donors
Your billing information is encrypted and unable to be viewed by anyone, including staff members. By submitting your billing information, you are authorizing The African Diaspora Group to automatically withdraw your pledged amount from your account every month on your designated billing day.
