African Diaspora Returnee Enstooled as a Queen in Ghana

The Spiritual Journey

The Vice-Chair and Founder of The African Diaspora Group, formerly Aurelia Peart, was recently Enstooled as a Queen Mother in the town of Hedzranawo, in the Volta Region of Ghana. Her spiritual journey began about 10 years ago when a situation caused her personal belief system in which she was raised in to be challenged from the core. She embarked on the path to find knowledge and truth, in which she evolved over the years from a strict upbringing affixed deeply in Christianity, to exploring the indigenous spiritual beliefs and practices of her forefathers, who were trafficked from the African continent during the horrors of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade.

Re-Establishing Identity

She was able to retrace her (real) roots in Ghana, and uncover royal stools within her lineage which had been lost for centuries. She credits this self rediscovery to tradition, which has the ability to assist those who seek answers, to find their origin, connect with their ancestors and guiding spirits, and learn the personal mission that they came into this world to achieve. Only the native spiritual tools available through tradition can provide a lost child in the diaspora with the full and complete restoration needed to find their way home. Aurelia’s crowning was not an honorary title, which is sometimes conveyed to individuals who demonstrate the ability to assist with the development of the community. Her Enstoolment was done through traditional means, in which the royal stool of a family chooses each titled individual (Kings, Queens, Chiefs, etc.) out of spiritual merit, to accomplish a greater mission to benefit humanity. The stool name conferred to Aurelia is Mama Kexornyi, which represents her as a tree with a strong established root system, that is suitable to serve as a solid foundation to yield many fruits for the benefit of all.

My journey has been long and challenging. It is not easy to find genuine, authentic individuals to assist with your spiritual journey, and it took me over 6 years from my first visit to West Africa (Ghana) to finally find the right path. During the last year, I began praying intensely for assistance to reach the next level of my spiritual journey as I felt compelled that there was something that I needed to do. Soon thereafter, all came into divine alignment, and I met the individuals that held the key to me ultimately finding my spiritual home, being identified as a queen, and restoring all which was lost over the generations. I feel whole – it is a feeling that I desire every displaced African in the diaspora is also able to experience during their lifetime. – Mama Kexornyi
